Digia has a proven record of experience with Qt, providing consultancy services for several years, and since 2011, being responsible for Qt Commercial, when the support for paid customers/users of Qt was transitioned from Nokia to this company.
In a practical way, this move from one company to another means that the Qt technology, copyrights and trademarks have now transferred to Digia. Changes to copyrights in all the applicable files of the Qt framework are already happening (you can check appropriate repositories), and it's expected to be finalized before the next Qt release. In addition all the Qt trademarks are now also owned by Digia, so we may expect a new partner program and other needed items to lay out how to use the Qt logos and other trademarks.
As stated before, Digia intends to port Qt to iOS and Android platforms, a move much awaited for thousands of developers all around the world. I wish well and success to everybody involved with the continuity of Qt. So as the say goes: The King is dead. Long live the King.
