You may already be aware that the new KDE Frameworks 5 implements a set of modules that can be used as addons plugins in Qt. This idea from KDE to refactor a significant number of libraries with the goal of making them easier to use with Qt.
The whole set of libraries were split into groups, with the so-called Tier 1 libraries having no dependencies other than system libraries and Qt itself, and the higher tier libraries having dependencies on other KDE Frameworks 5 libraries.
You can follow this excellent tutorial from ICS as it drive you through all the required steps of installing and using KArchive, a Tier 1 library providing QAt 5 with access to numerous types of archives. Please note that as of this writing, KDE Frameworks 5 is available as a technical preview, with a beta release expected for next April 2014.
